MultiPoint vs Point

Why are you using MultiPoint when a GDO Point/OrientedPoint geometry is created from GeoMedia (e.g. Output to Feature Classes from SQL Server Spatial to PostGIS)?
Why not use Point/PointZ?

If a geometry column is created as POINT or POINTZ, it will allow exactly one point to be stored in such a field. However, GDO geometry of type gdoPoint can contain geometry collection consisting of one or more points. In this case, such a geometry could not be stored in a field of type other than MULTIPOINT. So that's why the default point geometry type is MULTIPOINT.
